Club Safety Audit
The Club Safety Audit is a recognised part of each club’s affiliation and is annually launched in October for online submission.
The annual Safety Audit process went live on 07 October 2025. All British Rowing affiliated clubs were provided with instructions on how to complete the Safety Audit.
The deadline to submit a Safety Audit and have it approved was 25 November 2025. British Rowing are now giving affiliated clubs a grace period window until 10 December 2025 to submit their Safety Audit and have it approved for this year.
Any affiliated clubs who have not submitted a Safety Audit and had it approved by their Regional Rowing Safety Adviser (RRSA) by 10 December 2025 will be suspended from BROE2 until they complete their Safety Audit to the satisfaction of their RRSA.
This means that clubs who have not completed a Safety Audit and had it approved by the above date will not be allowed to enter crews into British Rowing affiliated competitions. They will also not be permitted to compete in any events that they have already entered. All British Rowing affiliated clubs initially suspended from BROE2, who then submit a Safety Audit and have it approved by the RRSA will have the temporary suspension lifted and will regain access to BROE2.
If your club hasn’t yet submitted a Safety Audit for this year, then please follow the instructions on how to submit a Safety Audit below. Once you have submitted a Safety Audit your RRSA will notify you if it has been approved or needs to be adjusted or updated.
A full list of the questions that are included within the Safety Audit can be found here.Â
The Safety Audit for this year will follow the principle that individual clubs, host clubs, and hosted clubs all complete the same set of questions. Hosted clubs will need to establish whether their host covers all policies and the Safety Adviser role, or whether the host simply provides the facility while the hosted club retains responsibility for policies and the Safety Adviser. In either case, hosted clubs should liaise with their host to ensure they can respond to the questions appropriately and provide the necessary documentation.
Non rowing clubs will answer a shorter list of relevant questions when they confirm their non rowing status within the safety audit.
To complete your Safety Audit, you will need to have the following relevant documents ready to upload into your Google Drive:
- Safety Policy
- Club Safety Plan
- Emergency Response Plan
- Risk Assessments for Club Activities
- Risk Assessments for Training Camps(if applicable)
- Any other relevant supporting evidence(if applicable)
Information regarding the documents you need to have ready can be found here, in RowSafe. As mentioned, please utilise the Google Drive as space to upload any other safety documents and documentation that the club deems fit.
A guide to using the Google Drive can be found here.
If there are legitimate reasons why your club will be unable to meet the grace period deadline, then please make your RRSA aware as early as possible.
